A 2,000-year-old bronze drum from the Eastern Han Dynasty was unearthed by a farmer in Wenxing village, Yunnan Province, China, revealing significant insights into ancient religious practices and bronze casting techniques. The drum, found buried upside down in a burial pit, features distinctive decorations including four sculpted toads and a 12-pointed sun motif, symbols associated with fertility, prosperity, and spiritual communication in southwestern Chinese cultures. Archaeologists believe the drum was not merely a musical instrument but served as a sacred vessel used in burial rites to convey blessings and facilitate communication between Heaven and Earth.
