Agile Robots, a Munich-based robotics company, has entered into a strategic research partnership with Google DeepMind to integrate DeepMind’s Gemini Robotics foundation models into its robots. This collaboration aims to enhance industrial robots used across sectors such as electronics manufacturing, automotive, data centers, and logistics. The partnership will involve testing, fine-tuning, and deploying these AI-enhanced robots, with data collected from Agile Robots’ deployments feeding back to improve the Gemini AI models. Agile Robots, founded in 2018 and backed by over $270 million in venture capital from investors including SoftBank Vision Fund and Xiaomi, has already implemented more than 20,000 robotic solutions globally. This deal marks the latest in a growing trend of robotics companies partnering with AI research labs to advance autonomous and intelligent robotic systems. Earlier in 2026, Boston Dynamics announced a similar collaboration with Google DeepMind to develop its humanoid robot Atlas using AI foundation models. The increasing complexity of robotics hardware and software is driving companies to form strategic
