Amazon has officially launched Alexa+, an upgraded, generative AI-powered version of its Alexa assistant, making it available to all U.S. customers. Prime members receive unlimited free access across devices, while non-Prime users can use Alexa+ for free on web or mobile with some limitations or pay $19.99 per month for full standalone access. Alexa+ integrates Amazon’s own foundation models with those from other providers, enabling more advanced capabilities beyond basic tasks, such as natural language conversations with follow-ups, itinerary planning, recipe management, homework help, and personalized recommendations. During its year-long beta, Alexa+ saw positive user adoption, with most customers choosing to keep the AI-enhanced assistant rather than revert to the older version.
