Alphabet-owned robotics software company Intrinsic, which develops AI models and software to make industrial robots more accessible, is joining Google while remaining a distinct entity within the company. Intrinsic will collaborate closely with Google DeepMind and leverage Google’s Gemini AI models and cloud infrastructure. The company originated within Alphabet’s moonshot division, X, and has rapidly expanded through acquisitions, including robotics software company Vicarious and Open Robotics. Intrinsic launched its first product, Flowstate, in early 2023—a platform designed to help developers without deep robotics expertise build applications—followed by enhancements such as improved simulation capabilities and the Intrinsic Vision AI model in late 2025. Intrinsic is also partnering with Google on ambitious projects aimed at transforming electronics manufacturing through general-purpose intelligent robots, with the goal of achieving full factory automation. CEO Wendy Tan White emphasized that combining Intrinsic’s robotics expertise with Google’s AI and infrastructure will unlock the potential of physical AI for a broader range of manufacturing businesses and developers, fundamentally shifting production
