Starting November 3, the program will increase rebates from $6,000 to $9,000 for new EV purchases and leases, and from $4,000 to $6,000 for used EVs. The program specifically targets the replacement of polluting gas vehicles with fully electric ones, which produce zero tailpipe emissions. This shift is significant for public health, as air pollution from fossil fuels contributes to severe health issues, including asthma attacks in over 32,000 Colorado children annually and risks to the elderly, pregnant people, and those with chronic conditions.
