Conntour, a video surveillance startup, has raised $7 million in a seed funding round led by General Catalyst, Y Combinator, SV Angel, and Liquid 2 Ventures. The company is developing an AI-powered search engine tailored for security video systems, enabling users to query live or recorded footage using natural language. Unlike traditional surveillance systems that rely on preset parameters, Conntour’s platform leverages advanced vision-language models to provide flexible, real-time search capabilities, such as finding specific objects or actions within thousands of camera feeds. The system can also autonomously monitor for threats based on customizable rules and generate incident reports with relevant video evidence. A key differentiator for Conntour is its scalability and efficiency: it can monitor up to 50 camera feeds using a single consumer GPU by dynamically selecting the optimal AI models and logic for each query, minimizing computational demands. The platform supports deployment on-premises, in the cloud, or hybrid setups, and integrates with existing security systems or can operate
