Instead, the company will introduce an "extended range electric vehicle" version of the truck, which incorporates a gas generator to recharge the battery, enabling a driving range of over 700 miles. This pivot also means the cancellation of Ford’s next-generation all-electric truck project, internally called “T3,” which was intended to be a clean-sheet EV design. Additionally, Ford is abandoning plans for a next-generation commercial electric van, though the current E-Transit model will remain in production.
