The Group is launching Korea’s first Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) pilot service on Jeju Island by the end of 2025, utilizing Kia EV9 and Hyundai IONIQ 9 models. This initiative addresses renewable energy oversupply by allowing EVs to return stored electricity to the grid, supported by a public–private partnership involving government agencies and energy companies. The pilot enables participants to charge EVs during low energy price periods and discharge during high-price times, promoting grid stability and reducing energy costs, with plans to expand nationwide.
In Europe, Hyundai is advancing from Smart Charging (V1G) to commercialized bidirectional V2G services starting in the Netherlands, becoming the first original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to offer customer-focused V2G solutions. Customers
