The Latin American electric vehicle (EV) market has experienced significant growth, reaching a 6% market share in Q3 2025, up from 4.2% in Q3 2024, driven by a 55% year-over-year increase in sales. This growth encompasses both battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), with BEVs accounting for 55% and PHEVs 45% of the market. Brazil and Mexico show a stronger preference for PHEVs, while smaller countries tend to favor BEVs. The recent introduction of long-range extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs) priced competitively with BEVs and internal combustion engine vehicles (ICEVs) may further boost PHEV numbers.
