Read original articleAt the Japan Mobility Show 2025, Isuzu and UD Trucks introduced the Vertical Core Cycle Concept, a modular delivery truck prototype featuring a unique vertical frame that allows the vehicle’s body and wheels to expand, shrink, or be swapped out to suit different cargo or passenger needs. This design enables quick transformation between cargo boxes and passenger cabins, allowing a single vehicle to serve multiple roles—such as delivery, logistics transport, or passenger carrying—within the same day. The modular system includes detachable wheels on each cargo module that can move independently, improving load balance and simplifying attachment or removal.
The front driving module houses essential systems like sensors, cameras, control units, electric motors, and batteries, functioning as the vehicle’s operational core.
