Oura has acquired Doublepoint, a Helsinki-based startup specializing in gesture recognition technology, to enhance its smart ring capabilities. Doublepoint’s technology enables devices to interpret subtle hand movements, allowing for faster and more natural interactions across various interfaces. Oura plans to integrate these gesture controls with its continuous sensing features to create new, subtle AI-powered functionalities that improve everyday user experiences. This acquisition aligns with Oura’s vision of advancing wearable AI through a combination of voice and gesture inputs, aiming to develop more ambient and intuitive AI experiences. The acquisition comes amid a strong growth period for Oura and the smart ring market. Oura has sold 5.5 million rings to date, up significantly from 2.5 million reported in mid-2024, and projects sales to surpass $1.5 billion by 2026. The smart ring market itself grew by nearly 51% in shipments in 2025, with Oura leading the segment. By bringing in Doublepoint’s team of AI architects
