German robotics startup Neura Robotics has partnered with semiconductor leader Qualcomm to develop the next generation of robots and physical AI. The collaboration focuses on creating the "brain and nervous system" for humanoid and general-purpose robots aimed at both domestic and industrial applications. Neura will utilize Qualcomm’s Dragonwing Robotics IQ10 processors as reference designs, which are tailored for autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and humanoids. Additionally, Neura plans to leverage its recently released platform to test and optimize robots running on Qualcomm’s processors, aiming to accelerate the deployment of cognitive robots that can safely operate alongside humans. This partnership exemplifies a growing trend in the robotics industry where startups with software and cognitive robotics expertise team up with established hardware and AI technology companies to overcome technical challenges and speed market entry. Similar to Boston Dynamics’ collaboration with Google on AI foundational models for its Atlas robot, Neura’s deal with Qualcomm highlights the mutual benefits of close integration between robotics firms and chip manufacturers. For Neura, this means building and
