Read original articleShin Starr is launching an autonomous robotic food truck kitchen that serves Korean BBQ, aiming to provide hot, fresh, and tasty meals at reasonable prices rather than relying on the novelty of robotic cooking. Led by CEO Kish Shin and chef Han Sungil—who brings experience from over 18 restaurants in Korea—the company emphasizes food quality and value. The robotic system cooks meals en route by retrieving fresh ingredients from a refrigerator, cooking them in a high-heat rotating canister, and timing the cooking process so that food is freshly prepared just as the truck arrives at the customer's location.
Beyond the food truck debut at TechCrunch Disrupt 2025, Shin Starr plans to expand into airport micro restaurants, where the automated kitchens can operate 24/7 without human staff. This addresses a gap in late-night food availability for travelers, offering fresh, restaurant-quality meals during hours when traditional restaurants are closed. The company has hired experienced automated retail expert Gower Smith as Chief Product Officer to help scale the technology.
