Read original articleIn December 2025, plugin electric vehicles (EVs) accounted for 68.6% of new car sales in Sweden, up from 62.8% the previous year. Battery electric vehicles (BEVs) held a 43.1% share, while plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) made up 25.5%. For the full year 2025, EVs captured 63.2% of the market, an increase from 58.4% in 2024, with most of the growth driven by PHEVs, which rose from 23.4% to 26.7%. BEV share saw only a modest increase from 35.0% to 36.5%. Overall auto sales volume in December dropped by 9% year-on-year to 23,877 units, while the full year 2025 saw a slight 1% increase to 272,998 units.
