Tata Power has commissioned its largest solar power plant to date, the 1.4-gigawatt Bikaner Solar Power Project in Rajasthan, India, just before the end of the year. The INR 54.9 billion ($611 million) project is expected to generate approximately 2.454 terawatt-hours (TWh) of electricity annually. Developed by Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited for SJVN Ltd under the Indian government’s Central Public Sector Undertaking Scheme (Phase II, Tranche III), the plant’s output is contracted to supply power to Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, and Uttarakhand, with allocations of 500 MW, 300 MW, and 200 MW respectively. The project incorporates 2.4 million bifacial solar modules manufactured by Tata Power Solar in Tamil Nadu and features advanced technologies such as precision ramming and high-performance inverters designed to operate efficiently in extreme heat conditions.
