Tesla is increasing production of its Model Y at the German Giga Berlin factory due to a rebound in demand, prompting the company to switch back to two full shifts per day as of September. This follows a period earlier in 2023 when production had dropped below two shifts daily after Tesla had previously operated three shifts at the end of 2022. The uptick in demand is partly attributed to the introduction of new Model Y variants, especially the more affordable Standard version, as well as the factory’s growing role in exporting vehicles to over 30 international markets.
