Ultrahuman, a Bengaluru-based health-tech startup, is intensifying its efforts to revive its U.S. smart ring business following U.S. Customs and Border Protection approval for its new Ring Pro model. This approval comes after a U.S. International Trade Commission ruling favored competitor Oura, restricting Ultrahuman’s imports of its previous Ring Air model and causing up to $50 million in lost sales. The U.S. market remains crucial, accounting for about 60% of global smart ring sales, which are rapidly growing. During Ultrahuman’s import restrictions, Oura significantly expanded its U.S. market share from 63.3% to 85%, while Ultrahuman’s share dropped from 24.6% to low single digits.
