The US Army conducted a significant aviation test on February 26 at Yuma Proving Ground, Arizona, focusing on enhancing the AH-64 Apache attack helicopter's combat capabilities by integrating it with the ALTIUS-700 drone system. This medium-range launched effect drone was fired at multiple targets under various conditions, demonstrating its ability to extend battlefield reach and reduce risk to soldiers by scouting ahead and assisting in reconnaissance and targeting. The test showcased how drones can operate alongside crewed helicopters to improve threat detection and strike precision, supporting the Army’s move toward multi-domain operations that integrate air, land, and networked systems for faster decision-making and coordinated strikes. The ALTIUS-700 drone is a compact, versatile platform capable of intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, signals intelligence, and electronic warfare missions. It can remain airborne for about four hours and operate up to 286 miles away, with a munition payload comparable to the AGM-114 Hellfire missile, enabling precision strikes on high-value targets like tanks
