The world’s first private space station, Haven-1, developed by Vast Space, is preparing for a planned launch in early 2027 aboard a single SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. Haven-1 will rely on a SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule for oxygen and energy once in orbit. This compact, modular station represents a significant step in NASA’s strategy to transition from the International Space Station (ISS) to a fleet of commercial space stations, as the ISS is expected to be decommissioned by 2030. Vast Space, leveraging a team of former SpaceX and NASA employees and strong partnerships with SpaceX, aims to build and launch Haven-1 faster than any other private space station project, with assembly already underway and key structural components completed.
