YouTube has expanded its conversational AI tool from mobile devices and the web to smart TVs, gaming consoles, and streaming devices, allowing users to interact with content directly on their largest home screens. Eligible users over 18 can activate the AI assistant via an “Ask” button on their TV, using either suggested questions or voice commands through their remote. The AI provides instant answers related to the video—such as recipe details or song lyrics—without interrupting playback. Currently, the feature supports English, Hindi, Spanish, Portuguese, and Korean and is part of YouTube’s ongoing efforts since 2024 to deepen viewer engagement. This expansion coincides with a rise in YouTube viewership on TVs, with a 2025 report showing YouTube capturing 12.4% of total television audience time, surpassing competitors like Disney and Netflix. Other companies are also advancing conversational AI in media; for example, Amazon’s Alexa+ offers natural conversations and tailored content recommendations on streaming devices. YouTube continues
