The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has opened a 30-day public comment period on Zoox’s exemption application, though no decision timeline has been announced. Zoox currently offers free demonstration rides in Las Vegas and San Francisco and is expanding its presence to eight additional U.S. cities, including Dallas and Phoenix.
The partnership between Zoox and Uber is described as a “multi-year strategic partnership,” with plans to launch in Los Angeles by 2027.
